We ... the world is getting smaller each day!

My little sister is apparently friends with one of the folk who did that.

I like seeing zee Germans take a stab at the funny.

There's sort of a dark hopelessness the memes embody about whether the door will ever get fixed, and that in turn makes for a dryness that is hysterical. *Very* German.

Indeed. I wonder if all the attention got the repair done faster, though.

Probably not. See, they probably had a schedule for repair by then, and such things MUST NOT BE ALTERED.

The door got repaired weeks ago. The loooong wait for the technician was just a couple of days.

You nailed it - there's a certain darkness in German humour that makes it delightful.

I was working there in 2006 and a colleague moved over from Canada. The day he and his wife arrived, the whole office went out for dinner and drinks to welcome them. The conversation about their move took a turn when they told us about the difficulty involved in moving their dogs. Naturally, there are lots of steps, lots of paperwork, and honestly, it seems like you really need to love your animals to go through the process.

Our boss remarks that it seems like a lot of work and suggests he has a simpler solution to the problem. He then points his fingers like a gun, points his hand downwards to the head of a hypothetical dog and says "Pow!"

Deliciously dark, and everyone had a good laugh. Except maybe my colleague's wife. Those dogs were like children to her...
